An Investigation on Visualizing Music Notation
Ornaments are music notations that embellish melodic notes. Composers utilize these to direct the player on how they envision their notes to be played. Some composers utilize more and others less, giving varying freedoms as to the interpretation of the music.
Below are 4 pieces by Debussy, visualizing only the ornamental music notations—categorized into Accidentals, Dynamics, Expressive/Stylistic, Tempo and Articulation/Ornamentals. Each piece is mapped vertically and without any of the melodic notations.
